Ruben Najera Will Be At sPACYcLOUd Day!

Ruben Najera is an american Professional skateboarder, Actor, and Filmmaker of Mexican descent. He has starred in numerous music videos, movies, and has been featured in skateboarding dvds and magazines. He has been a recurring signing guest at the world famous San Diego Comic Convention. He has had numerous pro signature products in the market including his very own PowerBar box which was sold in the largest chain stores in the world (Wal Mart, Target, Etc.) alongside Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers. You can currently find him on billboards in the Philippines for Draven shoes, and very soon playing the role of "Diz" in the movie "SKATE GOD" coming out summer 2016. Ruben currently resides back and forth between his hometown in El Centro,Ca and Orange County. sPACYcLOUd Day a Success!

We'll be sharing more pictures in the next couple of days but a HUGE thank you to everyone who came out to sPACYcLOUd Day! We loved seeing familiar faces and making new friends.Thank you to everyone at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for their help and support.

A special thanks to our dear friends Tamara Lang, Michael Lang, Laszlo Joseph Lang, and Harry Lang. They drove all the way from Woodstock, NY to show their love and support for sPACYcLOUd and Skate Girls Tribe. For these who don't know, Michael Lang is founder and producer of Woodstock festivals. He is featured in "Woodstock" documentary, written New York Times Bestseller "The Road To Woodstock" book, and has recently launched Pop Music College in Woodstock along with Paul Green, founder of School of Rock.

Corinne Sequin Joins sPACYcLOUd Day!

We have another exciting announcement! Corinne Sequin is joining sPACYcLOUd Day!

 
Corinne Seguin is a French skateboard, visual artist, graphic designer, owner of co2designs firm. She has been skateboarding here and there for the past 15 years, shredding the streets and/or transitions in France, USA and Spain where she’s lived. She participated to a few contest in France, volunteered on the organization of the World Cup Skateboard contest Far n’ High at La Halle de Skate du Val d’Orge of Villiers sur Orge, in France. In Paris, in 2014, she started with Sophie Berthollet and Kate Murray a non-profit organization, Realaxe, to encourage girl skateboarders, holding its first event last September 2014, the Realaxe Girl Weekend 2014 that took place at Cosanostra Skatepark, Chelles, France. Now relocated in New York, as part of the Klap collective, she organized with Kevin Banahan from Skateyogi, This is Klap skateboard video Premiere at Skate Brooklyn, Brooklyn, NY. She got involved with a Queens’s graffiti artists collective in F.A.M Shindig food-art-music event at The Paper Box in Bushwick, Brooklyn, NY, showcasing some skateboard art and a bunch of other bottle and wood pieces. Stocked to be in the women’s NY skateboard community after going to Adult Swim sessions at Skate Brooklyn and GRO sessions at Homage Training Facilities, she got herself involved into Femme Skate and became the Vice President of this local group of female skateboarders. In June 2015, she started organizing a weekly mini ramp session at ‪#‎theminirampproject‬ in Bushwick, Brooklyn, NY and recently were the head of the organization of the Femme Skate Sorta Sketchy art-skate-music event at #theminirampproject and the Bushwick Community Dark Room in Bushwick, Brooklyn, NY.

Jean Rusen Joining Us On sPACYcLOUD Day!

We're so happy to have Jean Rusen joining us on September 7 at Finding A Line festival at Kennedy Center hosted by sPACYcLOUD and Skate Girls Tribe! 

 
Jean Rusen moved from Ocean City, MD to Tempe, AZ at the age of 25. After spending over 6 years at the beach, falling in love with surfing, that transition to the Arizona desert could have been painful. Thankfully, she quickly discovered a new love; SKATEBOARDING! That love affair was the beginning of a wild and wonderful ride.

Jean acquired her first sponsor at age 35, made the podium and won $$ at a pro event for the first time at age 44. She was the first woman to ride in a World Cup Men’s event in September 2009 (Tim Brauch Memorial Bowl Comp, Grand-Masters’ Division). She has been listed in the WCS Men’s Masters rankings 4 years, with her best finish being 24th out of 79 riders.

Jean is currently the oldest active rider in the WCS Women’s Pro Division and has taken on a new role within the world of competitive skateboarding by serving as a judge at a few events. She has been a fixture on the judging panel of the annual, all-female Exposure event for the past three years.

In addition to skateboarding, Jean stays busy with her job at New School for the Arts & Academics (Tempe, AZ) and her gig as lead vocalist in Kevin Daly’s Chicken and Waffles, a Phoenix-based rockabilly/garage band. She is also kept on the run by her supportive husband of 18 years, Steven Keyser and her brilliant, beautiful “Spawn”, Jada (17) and Sadie (14). Mama, the Awesome Spawn & their rad pup, Matilda have spent several summers visiting family, friends and killer skate parks all across the USA; passing though as many as 21 states and skating 40 different spots in just one summer!

Jean is really stoked to be part of this amazing event, especially since it means a trip back to the "right coast". She is forever grateful to all of her sponsors for keeping her rolling all these years; Original Betty Board Co. Natalie Krishna Das Confirmed for sPACYcLOUd Day!

Finding a Line: Open Skate Session, hosted by SPACYcLOUd and Skate Girls Tribe, is on Monday, September 7, from 1:30 PM to 9:00 PM and skaters of all abilities are invited to find their line in the specially commissioned skate park on the Front Plaza in this free Open Skate Session with music by AndyCAPPS & Ron Allen and See-I!

We'll also have some friends joining us, like Natalie Krishna Das! Born in Los Angeles, Natalie currently resides in Phoenix, AZ where she skateboards every day. When she is not skateboarding, Das can be found surfing at Big Surf Waterpark, traveling the world seeking adventure, or playing her ukulele among several other instruments. She is also PR director for Uncle Skate Charity and leader of the Falling Whistles Phoenix organization. She is sponsored by SPACYcLOUd, Starr Skates, Original Betty Skate Co., Black Sox Ink, OnLoop App, ZOX, State Bicycle Co., Catalyst Case, Nyne Audio, Uncle Skate Charity, and Las ChicAZ.
